Jimmy Buffett: The Key West Years

Great little read... lots of interesting factiods about Jimmy Buffett that would be of interest to any & all Parrotheads.

We bought this book on a trip to Key West. It was fun driving around and seeing (even visiting) some of Buffett's early haunts. Without the book, we wouldn't have seen nearly as many. It's not a great 'story' or biography, but it gets a parrothead around Buffet's Key West.

Tom Corcoran, seems to be the inventor and owner of the Jimmy Buffett Time Machine! Through Tom's camera lens, and what's left of his memory, we are transported back to a time when Key West was truly the Island of the Bones. I don't know Jimmy Buffett, even though I've met him several times...but I can say, "I kind-of-know Tom Corcoran." The I first I met Tom was at the first National Parrothead Convention I ever attended, "Meeting of the Minds" (MOTM VII). He was signing his first Alex Rutledge novel , "Mango Opera," Ironically, just three years later, he was signing books right next to me at MOTM IX, and I was signing my book JimmyDOTcom: The Evolution of a Phan. I was even got the opportunity to interview him on camera and shoot two hours of video tape asking him questions about his Key West Days with Jimmy; an awesome experience, and one hell of an honor. Jimmy Buffett spent a few years in Key West gaining the attitude that is the cornerstone to the way millions of Parrotheads live their lives. In JIMMY BUFFETT: The Key West Years you will learn all about Jimmy's early day in Key West. You will also see pictures that go with the stories the Calypso Poet has been singing to us about for the past thirty-four years. A must read before your next trip to Key West. If you call yourself a Parrothead, and don't own this book...you're delusional!

If anyone can tell a story about Jimmy Buffett,, it is Tom Corcoran. I loved it.

I wish I had gotten this book before my wife and I went to Key West. It would have made a great guide to visiting some of Jimmy's old haunts. The stories are great. Definitely a Parrothead must have!
